Transfer

Dear Friends and Members of CUSA:

As you all know, I am a Franciscan Friar.  One of the words that describes the friars is "itinerant."  Itinerancy is the opposite of "stability," a vow taken by Benedictine monks.  It simply means that the world is our monastery and that we need to be ready to go wherever our minister might deem it necessary.  As a result, I find myself on the brink of a transfer.  I will be moving to Frankfort, IL, where I will serve as the chaplain of the Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart.  I am very happy about this transfer as it moves me to an environment that is almost completely stair free from a friary that is four stories tall.  As I get older, I find that my post-polio syndrome and my psoriatic arthritis is affecting my mobility.  This new environment will allow me to continue with my priestly ministry as well as provide me with a safe environment in which to live and work.

However, as I am in the midst of packing, I need to cut down on the daily tasks that fill my days.  So until April 3, I will not be blogging all that much, perhaps only on Sunday when I post my Sunday homily.  I hope to see you back at the CUSA website after my move.
