Guy was a wealthy layman known for his charity to the poor. After hearing a sermon by Saint Francis of Assisi, he gave away the rest of his riches and became a Franciscan tertiary, received into the order by Saint Francis himself in 1211. Subsequently, he was ordained as a priest. In later life he became a hermit near Cortona, Italy living in a cell on a bridge. He gained fame as a miracle worker. His feast is kept on June 12.
