St. Prochorus
April 9
St. Prochoros is one of the seven deacons chosen in chapter six of the Acts of the Apostles. He and his companions were chosen to meet the needs of the Greek or Hellenized (Gentile) converts who were part of the Nazarene community of Jerusalem. Reputedly, he later became the bishop of Nicomedia and was put to death at Antioch, probably during the persecutions of Emperor Nero ((54-68 AD). His feast day is April 9.
