St. Aureus was the first named bishop of Mainz in Germany. When the Huns attacked the city, he went into exile but later returned to celebrate Mass in the cathedral. There, during the Eucharist, Aureus and his sister Justina and their companions were martyred.  There feast is kept on June 16.
